News Studios is home to world-class video talent and state-of-the-art production facilities at The News Building in London Bridge. News Studios services all of News UK's brands - including The Times & The Sunday Times, The Sun, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio UK, and Talk. The team at News Studios support creative programming development and produce short and long-form content from a suite of dedicated studios.
Your Role
Reporting to the Head of Studios, you will ensure every podcast, talk show, and live broadcast meets our world-class standards by managing complex sound mixing and routing in a high-energy, collaborative environment.
Day to day you will:
- Operate and maintain a range of technical equipment to support the production and delivery of broadcast quality content.
- Manage sound mixing operations, setting up the sound desk, patching, and routing sources.
- Maintain consistently high standards of operation, within a demanding variety of as-live content including podcasts, talk shows, quizzes, etc.
- Assist in the rigging, testing, and de-rigging of all studio equipment and set.
- Diagnose and resolve audio-technical faults efficiently under pressure.
- Be adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines and stand in for absent crew members where appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Technical and Editorial teams to develop and implement new audio workflows, technologies, and best practices.
What we’re looking for from you:
- A highly punctual, flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to learn multiple roles across the studio.
- Proven experience in live and pre-recorded sound mixing.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast audio infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with technical staff, production teams, and on-air talent.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating studio talkback and communications systems (Riedel Artist/Intercom).
- Excellent teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
