Your Team: Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. We are based across a few locations, but operate as one team, and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.
Your Role: We are looking for a Management Accountant – Broadcast Costs to join the team on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026.
Role Objectives:
- Financial Oversight: Support Finance Manager with broadcast non-programming & production costs, ensuring consistent and efficient financial operations across all stations. Assist with the consolidation of station profit and loss (P&L) statements, providing detailed analysis and insights to business partners. Complete balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Monitor Programming expenses, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation. Calculate and report commercial bonus payments working closely on the target with revenue colleagues. Work closely with the Marketing teams to understand marketing plans and ensure spend is in line with budgets. Own the intercompany elimination process.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports. Input into weekly results submitted to group reporting ensuring accuracy of reporting and clear commentary for all variances. Support the senior finance manager to drive new reporting streams to provide greater insight into cost trends with a focus on challenging cost areas such as casual management. Headcount reporting.
- Strategic Planning and Audit: Own the month-end process for cost remit and input into reporting of full P&L statements. Assist with programming budgets/forecasts. Support the year-end audit process, ensuring all requirements are met in a timely and professional manner.
- Business Partnering and Initiatives: Collaborate with budget owners and other key stakeholders to provide financial insights and support cost optimisation across all broadcasting P&Ls. Ensure business stakeholders are kept up to date with any over/under spends, and work closely to identify ways to ensure we meet budget expectations. Assist the Programming team with Presenter changes and sports rights bids. Provide ad hoc analysis and project support to enable the successful delivery of business objectives. Challenge assumptions provided by the business around cost changes.
What we’re looking for from you:
- Actively studying ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with experience in a similar role.
- Proven track record in Management Accounting.
- Commercially aware coupled with strong accounting skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently.
