Your Role
As Senior Sports Video Producer, you will lead the delivery and development of flagship Sun Sport Originals formats, overseeing their execution from inception to cross-platform publication. Reporting to the Sport Commissioning Editors, you will inspire junior colleagues and drive high editorial standards to grow our audience and commercial appeal. This is a pivotal role for a sports enthusiast who is confident in making evidence-based decisions to evolve content for YouTube and social platforms.
Your Team
Sun Originals is a brand new video production studio making premium series for The Sun - Sun Sport and Fabulous brands. Creating, developing and producing a slate of brand new original shows, the department is tasked with delivering huge new audiences, developing a raft of famous new faces and helping to deliver The Sun to its next generation of viewers. This is your chance to join a talented team, redefining how content is created and consumed, contributing to creative, innovative video output that drives traffic and revenue.
Day to day you will:
- Produce sport video content that delivers audience growth and is appealing to commercial partners.
- Pitch, develop and deliver new format ideas to the Sport Commissioning Editors.
- Oversee the full video production process, including: casting, shooting, the edit and publication.
- Provide journalistic rigour to all content created by yourself and the team - ensuring accuracy and the highest of standards are met.
- Ensure videos are delivered for Comm-Ed sign off with minimal changes required.
- Editorial lead on your formats, fully immersed in football and football culture with knowledge of other sports.
- Produce scripts, YouTube titles and associated copy that are accurate, engaging and journalistically sound.
- Cast and book the best talent.
- Pre and post production delivery oversight.
- Produce shooting briefs.
- Confident on set and managing talent when in a record.
- Leadership of junior colleagues to ensure successful cross-platform delivery of their projects.
- Liaise with Commercial Project Management teams to ensure delivery of all assets linked to commercial deals.
- Ensure compliance and duty of care protocols are adhered to, and assisting the production department in maintaining the necessary paperwork.

- Digital Native: You are deeply immersed in the sport digital media landscape, with an intuitive understanding of what drives traffic online, especially on YouTube and how content needs to adapt across platforms.
- News Savvy: You have a solid understanding of journalistic practices, the latest sport coverage trends, and how to turn them into compelling visual stories that resonate with digital audiences.
- Editorially minded: You know what it takes to create content that will grab people’s attention and keep them engaged, taking your lead from the latest news and trends.
- NCTJ qualified: Ideal but not essential if CV shows extensive experience working in a sport editorial role.
- Creative & Fast-Paced: You thrive in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment, always ready to capitalise on breaking sports news or trending sports events to create impactful video content.
- Podcast & Culture Savvy: You understand how podcasts work editorially and commercially, with a genuine feel for sport content, internet culture and the conversations audiences actually care about.
- Data-Driven & Results-Oriented: You use analytics and performance insights to shape editorial decisions and optimise content.
- Team management: You are used to managing teams, including producers and editors, to deliver great episodes in a positive manner.
- Leadership & Collaboration: You’re a natural collaborator who can work closely with colleagues to ensure a seamless video production process from concept to execution.
- Organised: You have excellent project management skills and ensure your production admin is correct and up to date.
