Overview
News Broadcasting is looking for a Social Media Apprentice to join our digital team. During your apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience across our brands, including Talk, talkSPORT and Times Radio, learning how to transform long-form content into engaging, bite-sized clips that grow audiences and drive engagement. You'll also support the wider production teams, helping with research, guest preparation, and studio or gallery work when needed. You will receive mentoring and coaching bespoke to you and delivered by some of the most experienced journalists in the industry.
Your Team
You'll be part of our digital team, supporting our national brands:
- Talk – delivering bold current affairs and debate
- talkSPORT – the world's biggest sports radio network
- Times Radio – intelligent news and conversation
You'll work across these stations, helping to grow our audiences with engaging content and creative production support. You will be part of a creative team coming up with original formats and growing our audience with great ideas and fun, newsy and opinionated content.
Being a News Broadcasting apprentice
During your time with us you will earn above living wage, get full training, 4 days a week with our brands and 1 day a week studying – including an NCTJ Diploma in journalism – with all your course fees paid.
Day to day you will:
- Clip, edit and publish content from shows, podcasts, interviews and live broadcasts
- Write engaging headlines, captions and posts for social media platforms
- Support producers with research, story ideas, and guest preparation
- Assist in studios or galleries during live shows and recordings
- Work with digital teams to plan and deliver social media campaigns
- Monitor analytics and audience engagement to understand what works best
- Stay across the news, sport, and current affairs agenda to spot stories and opportunities
- Help with administrative and planning tasks to support smooth broadcast operations
