We are looking for an ambitious Digital Communications and Marketing Officer to lead our marketing, communications, digital channels and events.
The Role
Reporting to the Member Services Manager / Management Team, you will lead an integrated marketing and communications programme focused on growing membership, supporting loan and savings activity, strengthening our community reputation and delivering measurable results. This is a senior, hands-on role. We are looking for someone who can set direction, manage campaigns, produce high-quality content, analyse performance and work with limited day-to-day supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver the annual marketing and communications plan, aligned with business objectives, membership targets and product priorities. Lead our website, social media, email, content and digital communications, ensuring a consistent, engaging and accessible brand. Manage and improve including content, landing pages, calls to action and conversion journeys. Plan and optimise SEO and paid digital campaigns across Google, Meta and other relevant platforms.
Use GA4, Search Console, advertising data and other analytics to measure performance, identify opportunities and make informed decisions. Manage the marketing budget, suppliers and agencies, ensuring activity delivers value. Plan and deliver Credit Union events, AGM communications and community activity, building strong relationships with local media, schools, employers, community organisations and partners. Ensure all marketing and communications meet relevant advertising, consumer protection, UK GDPR and financial promotions requirements. Maintain high standards of accuracy, tone, accessibility and brand consistency, including appropriate human oversight of AI-assisted content.
About You
You will have: At least three years' recent, hands-on experience in digital marketing or digital communications, with responsibility for measurable results. Degree-level qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline is not essential but would be highly advantageous. Strong experience across social media, SEO, paid digital advertising, analytics and content production. Proven experience planning and delivering events.
Working knowledge of GA4, Google Search Console and Google or Meta advertising platforms. The ability to produce professional written, visual and short-form video content. Experience with websites/CMS, email marketing, CRM or related marketing technology. Excellent written English and the ability to explain marketing and digital activity clearly to non-marketers. A self-starting, accountable approach, with high standards and sound judgement. An understanding of working within a regulated, member-owned organisation.
Experience in financial services, credit unions, not-for-profit or membership organisations would be advantageous, as would local knowledge or networks across Newry, South Down or the wider region.
