Key Responsibilities
  • Use horticulture machinery and equipment competently; undertake further training as required.
  • Carry out grass cutting on various sites throughout the town.
  • Maintain grounds to the highest standards of horticulture.
  • Carry out pre-visual safety inspections and day-to-day maintenance of horticulture machinery, such as checking oil levels and greasing.
  • Install and remove Electronic Speed Awareness signs in designated areas.
  • Carry out minor tree works.
  • Assist volunteer groups in community projects.
  • Participate in the clearance of litter, weeds, etc. from all areas including footpaths and empty and maintain bins.
  • Support event management, including marshalling duties, traffic management, signage, barriers; may require weekend and evening work.
  • Assist the Environment & Facilities Service Managers in ensuring compliance regimes for Council buildings and facilities; cover duties in their absence.
  • Carry out cleaning tasks to support the Facilities Service on an ad-hoc basis.
