We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Environment Service Operative to join our Environment Service team on a part-time 14.5 hour per week contract. This hands-on role is vital in supporting Newquay Town Council's efforts to maintain and improve the town's open spaces.
Key Responsibilities:- To be competent in the use of a range of horticulture related machinery and equipment and to undertake any further training required for new or unfamiliar equipment.
- Carrying out grass cutting on various sites throughout the town.
- Taking pride in your delivery of the entire range of grounds maintenance operations in line with best practice to the highest standards of horticulture.
- Carrying out pre-visual safety inspection and the day-to-day maintenance of horticulture related machinery, such as the daily checking of oil levels/greasing.
- The installation and removal of Electronic Speed Awareness signs in designated areas.
- Carrying out minor tree works.
- To work alongside and assist appointed volunteer groups in the delivery of community projects.
- Participation in the clearance of litter, weeds etc from all areas including designated footpaths and that all bins are emptied and maintained.
- Assistance in events management including marshalling duties, traffic management, signage barriers etc. these duties will require you to carry out weekend and evening work on occasion.
- Assisting the Environment & Facilities Service Managers to ensure compliance regimes application to Council buildings and facilities are adhered to, with the ability to carry out these duties in their absence.
- Carry out cleaning tasks to support the Facilities Service on an ad-hoc basis.
