We have the opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team at Newquay Health Centre. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and experienced individual to work collaboratively with the entire practice team, supporting the delivery of care for the practice population. The successful applicant should have experience of working in general practice and will join a large nursing team. The team at Newquay Health Centre are friendly and supportive, working collaboratively to deliver a high level of care and service for all patients, who currently number around 17,500.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful applicant will have primary care experience.
- You should have an interest and experience in respiratory management (COPD/Asthma).
- We welcome applications from individuals with solid clinical skills who also have a vision for service development and delivery.
Job responsibilities:
- Long Term Condition management, specifically Asthma & COPD.
- Delivering patient care as necessary and referring patients to secondary or specialist care as required.
- Cytology.
- Womenβs Health and Contraception.
- Childhood Immunisations.
- Swabs, specimens.
- COPD.
- Wound Management/Removal of sutures and staples.
- ECGs.
- General Health Checks.
- Supporting the GPs and ANPs in patient care, Chaperone procedure.
- Safeguarding.
- Ability to review clinical practices and respond to national policies and initiatives where necessary.
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance.
- Clinical audits.
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs.
- Attending relevant practice meetings including monthly Clinical Governance Meeting.
- Adheres to all clinical governance standards, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective care in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
- To ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, ensuring safe working practices.
- To maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with legislation.
- To support the clinical team with safeguarding matters in accordance with local and national policies.
- To understand practice and local policies, and help to draft and implement policy where required.
- To use excellent communication in all communications with patients consistent with their level of understanding.
