We are looking for a forward‑thinking Special Education Teacher & Case Manager who is passionate about preparing young adults for life beyond high school. In this role, you aren't just a teacher; you are a transition specialist and an advocate. You will balance specialized academic instruction with the management of legal compliance, focusing on helping students achieve their post‑secondary goals—whether that's college, vocational training, or independent living.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Academic Support
    • Specialized Instruction: Teach in a resource room setting in core content areas (English, Math, Transition Skills and Executive Functioning, etc.).
    • Self‑Advocacy Coaching: Empower students to understand their own disabilities and learn how to request accommodations in real‑world settings.
    • Credit Tracking: Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements and modify curriculum as dictated by IEPs without compromising academic integrity.
  • Case Management & Transition Planning
    • Transition Services: Develop robust Transition Plans for students aged 14+ (or state‑specific age), focusing on post‑secondary education, employment, and independent living.
    • IEP Compliance: Lead the development of annual IEPs and triennial re‑evaluations, ensuring all documentation meets federal and state IDEA standards.
    • Inter‑Agency Collaboration: Coordinate with outside agencies (e.g., Vocational Rehab, Department of Developmental Services) to ensure a “warm handoff” after graduation.
    • Advocacy & Leadership: Serve as the bridge between general education teachers, parents, and administration to ensure all accommodations are implemented with fidelity in a departmentalized high school setting.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Master's in SPED or Transition Services preferred).
  • Certification: Valid NH Educator License with Special Education Endorsement (Secondary).
  • Compliance Expertise: Deep understanding of the transition components of the IEP and secondary graduation pathways.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with teenagers, parents, and community partners.

The "High School" Perks

  • Transition Focus: Help students find their first jobs and apply for colleges—seeing the immediate impact of your work.
  • Collaborative Planning: Work within a departmentalized structure with subject‑matter experts.
  • Professional Schedule: Follow the secondary school calendar with competitive salary and benefits.
  • Caseload Support: Dedicated case management periods provided daily.
