Recreation Assistant - Casual in Newport

Regional Pool & Tennis Centre, Geraint Thomas Velodrome, Active Living Centre and Newport Stadium

Ensuring all visitors of our sports and leisure sites experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, encouraging maximum enjoyment and repeated usage; includes Lifeguard duties at our swimming pools.

Hours, Pay and Benefits

Shifts arein line withtheoperational hours of our sites; there is a requirement to work flexiblywhich can includeearly mornings, evenings,weekendsand bank holidays.

Key Experiences and Qualifications

• FiveGCSE’sorequivalent
• RLSSNational Pool Lifeguard
• First Aid at Work Certificate(or willing to achieve withinthree months of start date)
• Working in a customer facing environment

Role Requirements

• Lifeguarddutiesforourswimming pools,in accordance withinstructions contained in the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plans
• Supervise the conduct of the public in all areas of the venue to safeguard the enjoyment of all venue users.
• Set up and de-rigging ofsportsandother equipment, checkingit is fit for purpose beforecustomerorColleagueuse
• Ensuringa high standard ofvenuepresentation isalways provided for all users,by cleaning andassistingin maintenance asrequired
• Immediately report any defects in venues and equipment to theappropriate managementteam
• Regularlymonitorthe venues both internally and externally,particularly unsupervised areas,to avert vandalism and prevent misuse or damage to venues andequipment
• Assistin the delivery, storage,movementand removal of materials/equipment
• Participate in all necessary external and internal training as required bythemanagement teams
• Assistin the promotion ofour products and servicesthroughpolite and friendly responses to customer inquiries,to encourage sales and repeat custom
• Assistin setting up and de-riggingforlarge functionsand events
• Administer first aid in line with qualification achieved
• Assistthe venue management in dealing withanyemergency situations, including evacuations
• Ensure a high standard of accuracy and clarity when completingadministrative tasks
• Undertake any other dutiesasdeemedappropriate forthe role as directed by the management team
