- Assist other coaches;
- Understand and follow oral and written directions;
- Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies & procedures;
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and parents;
Responsibilities
- Promote sport in the schools and community;
- Plan the wrestling program;
- Organize and supervise practices;
- Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game;
- Teach good sportsmanship and self-control;
- Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent;
- Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance;
- Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines;
- Present a positive image of the district to parents and community;
- Demonstrate concern with the education, growth and development of each student;
- Seek to develop a positive relationship between home and school;
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes;
- Adhere to the Newport Board of Education Policies and Procedures;
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certification, preferred;
- 21 years of age;
- Has met requirements of a criminal records check and child abuse background check as specified by KY State Law;
- Successful completion of all training courses as specified by KHSAA;
- Demonstrates knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Days worked and salary
Seasonal. Paid per the approved athletic extra-service salary schedule.
