Working Pattern: These are two fixed term positions, respectively working 13.75 hours and 20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027.
Newport Community Primary Academy are seeking two committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our school team. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment.
About the Role
Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will support learning in both the classroom and small‑group settings. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND
- Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions
- Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence
- Assisting with supervision during break/lunchtimes and accompanying pupils on trips when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can bring energy, compassion and commitment to the role. Essential qualities include:
- Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age
- Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning
- Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to relate well to both children and adults
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum
- Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy
- NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent
