You will be employed by Newport City Council on behalf of the Board and will work closely with residents, partners, the city council and UK Government officials. The role

As Pride in Place Project Manager, you will:

  • Provide programme management, governance, financial oversight, comms and secretariat support to the Board.
  • Monitor budgets, funding, payments, procurement, project delivery and performance, and prepare required reports and returns.
  • Coordinate Board meetings, engagement, communications and project development.
  • Prepare clear reports, presentations and advice informed by research, data and critical analysis.

This is a fixed term appointment for an initial period of 2 years, but with a possibility of extension.

What we are looking for

You will be an organised, confident and collaborative project manager who can work across community and organisational boundaries and help convert strategy into action. You will have:

  • A relevant degree or diploma-level qualification, or equivalent knowledge and significant experience in urban regeneration and project management.
  • Experience of delivering regeneration activity or managing complex programmes, including budgets, grants and performance monitoring.
  • Experience of supporting Boards, preparing concise reports and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and disseminate local and wider government data and evidence to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience of developing briefs and commissioning services or projects in accordance with procurement requirements.
  • Strong digital, communications and IT skills, including an understanding of social media and marketing, and the ability to use Innovative digital tools and approaches to engage effectively with a diverse range of communities.

Desirable: A project management qualification, knowledge of the development process, experience promoting regeneration or environmental enhancement, or experience using GIS and other databases.

What you will get

  • A central role in shaping a major long-term investment programme for Newport communities.
  • A generous local government pension scheme.
  • 26 days annual leave entitlement, rising to 30 days after 5 years continuous local government service, plus statutory bank holidays.
  • Professional development and career progression opportunities.
  • Access to staff networks and flexible working arrangements where compatible with the role.

Interviews will be undertaken as a two stage process.
