An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Schools Finance Team as a Finance Business Partner (FBP).
Reporting to the Lead Finance Business partner Deficit Schools (LFBP) and Senior Finance Business partner (SFBP), the FBP will support schools with financial monitoring, providing advice and scrutiny to ensure robust and consistent financial management practices are in place to identify risks and opportunities over the short to medium term.
The FBP will work closely with the LFBP for Deficit Schools in supporting schools already in deficit positions, and to enable early identification and mitigation actions to prevent other schools falling into a similar position. Examples of other duties include ensuring that all regular finance processes/tasks are completed consistently and in line with the operating model in place across the Council and deputising for the LFBP as required.
The ideal candidate will be highly numerate and literate and be qualified or studying towards an Intermediate or Professional Accounting qualification and will have experience of dealing with Head Teachers and Business Managers. The post holder will require the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
The post holder will work from home and the Civic Centre and occasional travel will be required to sites in and around the Newport area.
