Newport CE Primary School is looking for a self-motivated, resilient and enthusiastic Family Liaison Officer to join our excellent staff team. Working under the direction of the Head of School, the FLO will be the first point of contact for parents/carers and staff on a daily basis. They will work with all stakeholders of the school and outside agencies to improve outcomes for our pupils.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, a dynamic approach to working in demanding situations and will have a flexible approach to their working. The person we are looking for will have previous experience of working with children and families and be able to build trusting relationships within our school community. Previous experience of working within a school and knowledge of multi-agency working is essential. It is desirable for applicants to hold qualifications that support their ability e.g. NVQ in social care.

This is a demanding but rewarding role which puts the FLO at the heart of the school. It is essential that the successful candidate can effectively deal with difficult and sensitive situations while adhering to the School’s Safeguarding and Confidentiality Policies.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for parents/carers and staff on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders of the school and external agencies to improve outcomes for pupils.
  • Utilise strong communication and inter-personal skills to manage demanding situations.
  • Build trusting relationships within the school community.
  • Uphold safeguarding and confidentiality policies in all duties.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Previous experience of working with children and families.
  • Experience of working within a school and knowledge of multi-agency working.
  • Desirable qualifications: NVQ in social care or equivalent.
