Bookkeeper

Location: Isle of Wight, Newport Office
Hours: 20 to 25 hours Per week

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

This role would suit someone with previous bookkeeping experience who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Matching POS transactions to invoices and payments.
  • Managing the purchase ledger.
  • Processing supplier remittances.
  • Raising customer invoices.
  • Maintaining and updating financial registers and records.
  • Matching incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Entering invoices and payments into Sage.
  • Processing weekly supplier payments.
  • Processing weekly subcontractor payments.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns.
  • Ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience using Sage accounting software.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Experience working within the construction industry.
  • Understanding of subcontractor payment processes.
