Newnham & Jordan Solicitors is a multi-disciplinary law firm providing services across property law, private client matters, family law, dispute resolution and specialist areas such as equine law. The firm offers a client-focused environment where practitioners handle varied and often complex legal work.
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Wimborne Minster for an experienced Dispute Resolution Solicitor or CILEX. The role involves managing a caseload of civil and commercial disputes, which may include property disputes, landlord and tenant issues, contractual disputes, professional negligence, and contested probate or trust matters. As we also deal with claims against insurance and developers for building safety, knowledge of construction and the Building Safety Act could be of interest. Day‑to‑day tasks include advising clients, drafting pleadings and correspondence, preparing and reviewing documentation, conducting legal research, and engaging in negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation.
The successful candidate will liaise with counsel and experts, attend court hearings and conduct advocacy where appropriate, conferences, and ensure all work complies with regulatory and firm standards. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate file records, contributing to business development, supporting the firm’s reputation for quality service, and providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Strong grounding in general Law, including civil and commercial dispute resolution, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and case law.
- Relevant experience in Conveyancing and property‑related disputes (e.g., landlord and tenant, boundary or ownership issues) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Employment Law disputes, including workplace conflicts and contract issues, would be beneficial.
- Experience with Commercial Real Estate matters, particularly disputes involving commercial leases or property transactions, is an advantage.
- Exposure to Family Law disputes (such as financial remedy, children matters, or injunctions) is helpful, especially where matters overlap with civil disputes.
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX (or equivalent) with post‑qualification experience in dispute resolution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting clear advice, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Strong negotiation, advocacy, and client care skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and complex matters professionally.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively within a team.
