We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health. We care for thousands of NHS and private patients a year in our specialist eye clinics across the country. We have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the third year running.

We are looking for a new Ophthalmic Nurse to join our Shrewsbury site. This will be 19 hours over 2 days per week including some weekend work. This is a fixed term contract for one year. You’ll manage the pre-operative patient process by performing a range of clinical assessments and getting the patients ready for surgery. The thought of eye surgery can be a daunting prospect for patients, so our Ophthalmic Nurses need to be empathetic and friendly, able to put patients at ease and help them feel comfortable whilst they are being prepared. You’ll care for our post-operative patients by helping them relax whilst you explain the next steps and medication details, clearly explaining what they can expect and what any possible side effects can be.

Our services are busy, typically seeing 18-22 patients a day in our high-volume cataract surgery provision, so you’ll thrive working in an efficient and fast-paced environment. You can also support the consultant in outpatient clinics, undertaking diagnostic testing as required. You’ll maintain accurate patient records and ensure the highest standards are met in terms of patient safety, confidentiality, clinical compliance and hygiene levels.
