Who are we?

At Newmedica, we believe better sight changes lives.

We’re one of England’s top providers of NHS and Private ophthalmology services, delivering outpatient care, diagnostic testing, and advanced eye surgery to thousands of patients every year. With a growing network of specialist clinics across the UK, we’re on a mission to make world-class eye care more accessible for everyone — and we’re expanding rapidly.

We’re proud to be officially certified as a Great Place to Work, based on independent feedback from our colleagues. This recognition reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering workplace where people can thrive.

Your Next Role: Clinic (Ophthalmic) Assistant

As a Clinic Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in every patient’s journey. You’ll be the friendly face welcoming patients into our clinic, helping them feel at ease, and guiding them through essential eye tests before they see our clinicians. You’ll learn to use the latest diagnostic equipment, build valuable knowledge around eye health, and ensure every patient feels supported and reassured throughout their visit.

Alongside patient-facing responsibilities, you’ll also help keep the clinic running smoothly by handling key administrative tasks — from updating patient records and preparing paperwork to answering phone calls.

No two days are the same. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you’ll meet people from all walks of life and see the real impact of your work every day.

The role will be across all of our Bristol sites; mainly based at Aztec West, with occasional travel required to support our Clifton and Langford locations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a clinical environment — whether you\’re taking your first step into healthcare or looking to progress your career. Many of our Clinic Assistants go on to explore roles in diagnostics or theatre support.

What We’re Looking For

This is an ideal role if you have:

  • Experience working in a busy, customer-focused or service role (essential) —g. hospitality, retail, healthcare, or similar.
  • A caring, positive attitude and enjoy helping people feel at ease.
  • Good communication skills and a clear, confident telephone manner.
  • The ability to work well as part of a supportive team.
  • An excellent grasp of the English language both verbally and in written format
  • Confidence using computer systems (Office 365 experience is helpful).

We’ll give you full training on our equipment, systems and processes, so you don’t need previous clinical experience — just the motivation to learn and grow!

What You’ll Get in Return

We know that great people make a great company, so we offer a comprehensive and supportive package, including:

  • Competitive Salary:£25,396, increasing to £26,200 after probation.
  • 25 days holiday+ bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Company pension scheme
  • Enhanced family leave and sick pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme– 24/7 confidential support
  • Perks & Discounts– from eyewear to retail savings
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
