We are looking for an Ophthalmic Nurse to join our Cheshire Oaks site. This role will be 40 hours over 5 days per week including weekends on a rota basis where required. Our Ophthalmic Nurses ensure a safe and efficient service, supporting outpatients through their clinical and theatre journeys. You will manage the pre-operative patient process by performing a range of clinical assessments and getting the patients ready for surgery. The thought of eye surgery can be a daunting prospect for patients, so our Ophthalmic Nurses need to be empathetic and friendly, able to put patients at ease and help them feel comfortable whilst they are being prepared.
You will care for our post-operative patients by helping them relax whilst you explain the next steps and medication details, clearly explaining what they can expect and what any possible side effects can be. Our services are busy, typically seeing 18-22 patients a day in our high-volume cataract surgery provision, so you will thrive working in an efficient and fast-paced environment. You may also support the consultant in outpatient clinics, undertaking diagnostic testing as required. You will maintain accurate patient records and ensure the highest standards are met in terms of patient safety, confidentiality, clinical compliance and hygiene levels.
