SilentGlass™ blocks unexpected or malicious content between HDMI and DisplayPort connections. It does it in hardware: no firmware to patch, no software to compromise.
We’re looking for a Lead Electronics Engineer to take it further. You’ll lead the electronics team designing the next generation of SilentGlass™ products, and the research and development behind the products that follow.
You’ll work closely with our engineering team in Singapore, sharing designs and dividing the work, so you’ll be as comfortable leading across time zones as you are at the bench.
Our hardware protects systems in government, defence and critical national infrastructure. The designs you lead will need to be right, and you’ll need to be able to show why.
What you’ll do.
You’ll set the technical direction for our electronics and lead the people doing the work. This could involve:
- Leading the electronics team: planning the work, reviewing designs and developing engineers.
- Designing the next generation of SilentGlass™ hardware, from architecture and schematics through layout review to bring-up and test.
- Running research into new product ideas, and turning the promising ones into products.
- Working with our Singapore engineering team to share designs, divide work and keep projects moving.
- Making sure designs can be manufactured, tested and certified, working with our manufacturing partners.
- Keeping clear design records, so decisions can be reviewed and the evidence stands up to scrutiny.
This is a hands-on lead role. You’ll know the designs well enough to review them properly, and you’ll step in at the bench when a problem needs you.
What we’re looking for.
This role needs experience as well as the right approach:
- Electronics design: you’ve taken boards from schematic to working product, ideally including high-speed digital interfaces such as HDMI or DisplayPort.
- Leadership: you’ve led engineers or technical projects, and you can set direction while giving people room to do their best work.
- Rigour: you test what you assume, design with evidence in mind, and can explain why a design behaves as it should.
- Collaboration: you work well with teams in other places and time zones, and you write things down so nothing depends on being in the room.
- Judgement: you know when a design is ready to ship and when it isn’t, and you can explain the difference.
- Care: you handle sensitive information appropriately and respect the security of the work.
What you can expect from us.
The chance to shape a product line that protects some of the UK’s most sensitive systems, in a small team where your decisions show up in the hardware.
The tools and equipment the work needs, and time for the research that leads to the next product.
Eligibility and security clearance.
You must be a UK citizen, or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
You don’t need security clearance to start. As your career progresses, the role will naturally lead to needing Security Check (SC) clearance, so please consider your eligibility for UK national security vetting before applying. When the time comes, we’ll support you through the vetting process.
