Our client is an established transport and warehousing business providing logistics services across the UK. The Managing Director will assume overall responsibility for the performance of the business, providing leadership across transport, warehousing and related activities. The role encompasses commercial, operational and financial accountability, whilst ensuring the organisation is appropriately structured, resourced and positioned to meet its strategic objectives. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the Managing Director will help shape future direction and support the successful execution of the company's strategy.

The position will include responsibility for revenue, profitability, cash flow and budget delivery, alongside oversight of commercial activity, pricing, customer development and contract performance. The Managing Director will ensure appropriate financial disciplines, management information and reporting structures are in place to support decision-making, whilst maintaining close oversight of operational performance across transport, warehousing and associated business activities.

Candidates will bring proven experience leading a transport, logistics, warehousing or operationally intensive business with full P&L responsibility. Strong commercial and financial acumen will be essential, together with demonstrable experience developing and executing business strategy, building organisational capability and establishing clear accountability across all functions. The successful candidate will be a credible, grounded and pragmatic leader with the ability to bring people together behind shared priorities.
