We are looking for a commercially astute and driven leader who can deliver measurable improvements across efficiency, cost control and operational performance.
The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will assume full responsibility for the transport department, driving standards, accountability and operational discipline. You will lead all aspects of transport operations, including planning, fleet performance, driver management and compliance, while identifying and delivering tangible cost-saving initiatives. This is not an administrative role. It requires a hands-on, results-driven individual capable of making decisive changes and embedding a high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring effective planning, scheduling and delivery
- Improve fleet utilisation, route efficiency and overall service performance
- Drive cost reduction initiatives across fuel, maintenance and operational inefficiencies
- Strengthen preventative maintenance and reduce downtime and repeat issues
- Lead, manage and develop a large driver workforce, improving accountability and standards
- Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation and operator licence requirements
- Introduce structure, reporting and performance metrics to support ongoing improvement
The Candidate
We are seeking a proven transport leader with the credibility and capability to influence at senior level and deliver change within a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate:
- Significant experience in a senior transport management role
- Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of reducing costs and improving efficiency
- Deep understanding of fleet operations, route planning and driver management
- Excellent knowledge of compliance and operator licence obligations
- A confident, accountable leadership style with the ability to drive standards
- CPC Transport Manager qualification
Experience within waste management, recycling, logistics or heavy transport is highly advantageous.
How to apply
This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of a key business function and deliver visible, measurable impact. The business is at an important stage of growth and change, and this role will play a central part in shaping its future operational performance. We welcome applications from interested parties. All submissions will be reviewed, and suitable candidates will be contacted directly.
