Our Client
An ambitious and internationally active recycling and resource recovery business is seeking a commercially driven Commercial Director to lead the development of new markets and trading opportunities. With operations across several regions, the company is focused on expanding its commercial footprint and strengthening its position as a trusted supplier in the global materials market.
The Role
The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading commercial operations across the UK and Europe, overseeing both sales and purchasing teams to drive growth in recovered materials trading. This includes developing and implementing a commercial strategy that shifts the business from transactional trading to value-driven, solution-based selling in strategically important verticals.
Key responsibilities include leading high-value contract negotiations, enhancing pricing and account management strategies, and building scalable market penetration plans. The role also requires close collaboration with operational and finance teams to improve trading performance, manage risk effectively, and enhance supply chain efficiency across the region.
The ideal candidate will have proven commercial leadership experience in a trading, recycling, or commodity-based environment. They will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and a track record of growing revenue and gross margin. A commercially focused mindset, ability to lead teams through transformation, and comfort operating in fast-paced, evolving markets are all essential.
To Apply
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growth-focussed company at a critical point in its development. Interested candidates are invited to apply via LinkedIn or through the vacancies page on the Newman Stewart website. All submissions will be reviewed, and suitable candidates will be contacted directly.
