About the Role
To take overall responsibility and leadership for all plant operations; to include production (blending and bakehouse), safety, warehousing and supply chain. To deliver all objectives and budgets at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements and to ensure plant meets its profit objectives with the support of direct reportees.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and maintaining plant operation budgets.
- Maintains high standards of quality, productivity, safety and hygiene with support of the team.
- Resolves customer, departmental and employee grievances as needed.
- To ensure continued people development through Company training programmes.
- Determine Factory standards and apply to the Plant’s manufacturing operations.
- Co-ordinate the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
- Confer with Department Heads on the application of methods and production standards, together with adherence to safety programmes.
- Participate in the recommendation of designs for special machinery and co-operation with product, process research and development programmes.
- Control cost of Production, together with Warehousing receipt and shipping of raw materials through appropriate subordinates.
- Participate directly in the conduct of industrial and labour relations, including Union negotiation where applicable.
- Review and approve recommendations of staff in matters of personnel or rate changes.
- Ensure achievement of all budgeted areas by delegation and control.
- Liaise with all relevant departments and functions within NWF Group to ensure smooth communication and actions.
- Responsible for identifying resource issues and agreeing manning levels to ensure an efficient production process.
- Ensure all communication methods are fully utilised by the team and staff kept fully informed.
- Maintain day to day contact and communication with immediate Management team and the entire workforce.
- Liaise with all Department Heads as required to perform the Operations role to achieve the most efficient running of the Plant.
- Liaise with Customers and Suppliers as required.
Person specification
- Previous management experience in a Food Manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience and recognised achievement of leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Detailed knowledge of plant, equipment and processes used within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven IT skills in order to be able to manipulate and extrapolate data analysis sheets.
- Organisational skills.
- Motivated self-starter and team leader.
- Familiarity with safety and quality standards in manufacturing.
