The Role To support the Technical team to ensure raw materials comply with food safety and legislative requirements. Ensure relevant goods intake checks are carried out within a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring timely review & approval of all raw material specifications and supplier documentation.
- Updating company systems and assisting with approval on company spec system.
- Working closely with internal departments including Development, Warehouse and Purchasing, and the Supply / Customer Base.
- Assisting as necessary with the completion of customer queries and documents.
- Assisting in third party visits and audits, participating in the company internal audit program and providing support within the Technical Department.
- Carry out internal traces and supplier traces.
- Ensuring relevant company risk assessments are kept up to date.
- Requesting and collating VACCP information.
- Responding to customer VACCP queries.
- Carrying out internal audits e.g. GMP and scheduled audits.
- Assisting in the approval of new artwork.
- Covering the Goods In QA role when required which will include raising non-conformances; managing hold stock; raw material testing; goods intake checks.
- A degree or equivalent in a Food Science or related discipline.
- Knowledge of food legislation, labelling, nutritional and allergen information.
- A strong communicator with a conscientious and diligent attitude.
- The ability to be flexible, multitask and work well under pressure.
- An understanding of technical systems including HACCP.
- Competency in Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Physically fit to undertake manual handling, taste testing.
- There may be times when you may need to cover other within the business and so flexibility is important.
