About the Role
To lead the Engineering Department to ensure the machinery, buildings and working practices are to the highest standards. To devise strategies for engineering to ensure the site meets its objectives.
Responsibilities:
People Management:
- Direct line management of a team of multi-disciplined employees, ensuring all site and corporate policies are implemented and enforced and that all line management responsibilities i.e. performance, sickness, disciplinary, etc. processes are completed to the fullest.
- Manage the labour schedule, ensuring labour is resourced to activities efficiently and effectively and that any planned maintenance activities are completed on time and within budget, providing continuous service to the plant.
Planned Maintenance Programme:
- Manage and develop the Planned Maintenance Programme utilising continuous improvement methodology.
- Review all PM activities by location ensuring all critical parts, labour resource requirements and maintenance technician activities are clearly identified, conducting a gap analysis on PM activities.
- Root cause analysis and resolution of any manufacturing losses related to PM activities.
- Manage and control the Work Request procedure ensuring WRs are acknowledged, reviewed and prioritised in line with PM activities, communicating at all times with the originator.
Breakdowns:
- Manage Maintenance Technicians to ensure they identify, diagnose and rectify faults/breakdowns in a timely and safe manner, ensuring minimum impact to efficiency. Review breakdowns and manage corrective actions through the planned maintenance programme
Engineering Stores:
- Identify a critical spares list in conjunction with the planned maintenance schedule, improving the stores function to ensure all costs and machinery are maintained to agreed levels
- Identify, develop and control suppliers and service partners to ensure adequate capability to the site
Experience & Qualifications:
- High volume manufacturing experience (preferably in food production), including continuous processes and batch processes
- Significant experience of working within a maintenance environment, including electrical and mechanical fault diagnostics. A bias in electrical engineering in essential.
- Good understanding of DSEAR and in particular ATEX requirements
- Well-developed and well-rounded management and leadership skills including budget control, being a true team player
- Proven experience in continuous improvement
- Highly analytical and a detailed approach to problem solving
