The Role: While being highly skilled, motivated, and focused on continuous improvement you will be responsible for delivering effective maintenance to the Plant, equipment and facilities by ensuring breakdowns are resolved efficiently and effectively, ensuring preventative maintenance programmes are adhered to and ensuring manufacturing objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Expert knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems must be able to demonstrate experience.
- To maintain plant and equipment to ensure it performs to necessary efficiency standards to comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Identify, diagnose, and rectify faults/breakdowns in a timely safe manner.
- Identify potential faults and hazards, communicating and offering solutions, consulting with Maintenance and Production Management to plan any corrective actions within Planned Maintenance windows.
- Use and improve the CMMS to ensure it is kept up to date with all relevant information.
- To assist the Engineering Manager with plant improvements, offering up improvement suggestions and ensure minimal downtime through effective planned maintenance.
- Prioritise and manage workload ensuring minimum impact on production efficiency.
- Manage and improve standards of Health and Safety, hygiene, quality and food safety and implementation and adherence to hygiene, health & safety, and food safety regulations.
- Ensure that all tasks are conducted safely, adhering to NWF Health & Safety Regulations working in accordance with the Health & Safety at work act 1974 and reporting any hazards.
- Adherence to Corporate Sanitation Standards ensuring that the department is operating to the highest standards of hygiene.
- Facilitate and execute continuous improvement activities.
- Support the achievement of customer service levels and production plans.
- Issue permits, coordinate and assist contractors where required.
- Adapt an âAlways Audit Readyâ approach.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Ensure engineering stock is kept up to date and at the required stock levels.
- Factory start up, machine testing and supporting all manufacturing facilities as required.
- Ensure all maintenance records are recorded on the CMMS system.
- To undertake training and to assist in training other or new members of staff as required.
- To always work in accordance with the Companyâs Dignity at work policy.
- To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.
- Expert knowledge of electrical mechanical systems.
- Performing engineering assignments (production, maintenance, process, capital projects), involving the application of established instrumentation and process control technology and principles and often requiring coordination with other engineering and functional competencies to provide economical and expedient task implementation.
- Leading the instrumentation and process controls functional responsibilities.
- Scheduling own daily activities to satisfy production requirements and accommodating requests from other organisations (Maintenance, Operations, Projects).
- Must be prepared to help with any eventualities that may arise on site within the engineering day to day remits.
Person Specification:
- Apprenticeship / Time served qualified engineering technician.
- PLC experience the person must have high competency in Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Allen Bradley systems they be able to demonstrate a high level of fault finding and programming skills of the stated units.
- Degree HNC / HND / NVQ, BTEC/ C&G or equivalent in Engineering above level 3 in both electrical & mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience within an FMCG manufacturing or Industrial processing environment.
- Experience & Knowledge of delivering CI activities.
- Use of PC based windows 365 software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Excellent communication skills; must be fluent in English at a technical level.
- Proficient written, numerical, and verbal skills.
- Professional manner with a âcan doâ attitude and flexible in approach.
- Literate and numerate.
- Reliable and methodical.
- Calm under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well individually.
- Ability to understand and adhere to company procedures and health and safety regulations.
Additional Information: This is a site-based role, working between the core hours of 08.00-18.00, Monday to Friday, however due to the nature of the role and the business, a degree of flexibility is required. Although based at the Banbury site, you will be expected to travel to other sites across the UK network and support with PLC systems or small projects when required.
