The Role
A highly skilled, motivated, and safety‑focused individual responsible for delivering effective maintenance across plant, equipment, and facilities. The role ensures breakdowns are resolved efficiently to minimise downtime, preventative maintenance programmes are followed, and equipment reliability is maintained to support the achievement of manufacturing objectives and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain plant and equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with company standards.
- Diagnose and repair faults or breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and support improvements to maintenance systems.
- Identify potential faults or hazards and work with Maintenance and Production teams to resolve them.
- Update and utilise the CMMS to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Support plant improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prioritise workload to minimise disruption to production.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene, quality, and food safety.
- Facilitate and execute continuous improvement activities.
- Issue permits and coordinate with contractors where required.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Ensure engineering stock is kept up to date and at the required stock levels.
Person Specification
- Experience in plant or manufacturing maintenance environments.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience using CMMS systems is desirable.
- Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Minimum of 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience within an FMCG manufacturing or Industrial processing environment.
- Experience & Knowledge of delivering CI activities.
- Literate and numerate.
- Reliable and methodical.
- Calm under pressure.
- Flexible.
- Good communication skills.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Time served qualified engineering technician, with PLC experience is desirable.
- BTEC HNC / NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
- ATEX experience would be a large advantage.
- IPAF licence or equivalent (3a & 3b).
- 18th Edition Electrical Certificate.
- Ability to weld (TIG,MMA).
- AYTEX / Compex (Dust) Desirable but training can be given.
- Experienced in Bakery and food Blending Equipment.
- Knowledge of unity system.
- Reach truck licence & Counterbalance licence.
- Current PPT license.
- Previous food factory experience, preferably FMCG.
