The Role
To schedule finished goods orders in a manner that allows customer expectations to be met while maintaining costs within the budgeted figures set by the Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Goods Outwards
- Schedule customers’ orders on a daily basis.
- Schedule orders from external warehouse sites.
- Ensure that service levels are maintained to the highest standard while keeping costs within budgeted guidelines set by the logistics manager.
- Ensure contract vehicles are run at maximum capacity on a daily basis whilst managing both vehicles and drivers within legal guidelines.
- For all overspill loads ensure approved subcontract hauliers are booked in a timely manner and approved haulage rates are adhered to or best spot rates are negotiated for any multi-drop work required.
- Liaise with customer services and planning departments to ensure that all goods are manufactured in time to meet vehicle arrival times.
- Monitor monthly exceptional transport costs.
- Goods Inwards
- Liaise with purchasing to arrange collection of raw materials from suppliers on contract vehicles wherever possible.
- Ensure collections of empty pallets are made in time to meet production requirements.
- Warehousing
- Create a daily loading schedule for goods out warehouse operations.
- Keep warehouse staff briefed throughout the day of any alterations to orders/loads.
- Liaise with external warehouses regarding inbound and outbound loads from secondary locations.
- Quality
- Monitor haulier performance levels logging any non-conformances such as damages and late deliveries.
- Record haulier performance levels on a monthly basis for review by logistics manager.
- Financial
- Raise purchase orders for all subcontracted transport ensuring all P/O’s are receipted in a timely manner.
- IT Systems
- Report all IT system issues via the IT Helpdesk, ensuring priority issues are managed effectively and efficiently to minimise impact on Logistics/Warehousing.
- Any other duties as directed by your manager.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications/requirements
- At least 3 years’ experience of warehousing and logistics.
- Confident self-starter with good communication skills.
- Negotiation, delegation and problem solving skills.
- A good level of IT knowledge.
- Good analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst remaining professional.
- Proven ability to simultaneously undertake several tasks.
Desirable qualifications/requirements
- Experience in a FMCG environment.
- Good geographical knowledge of Europe.
- Knowledge of Unity.
Additional information
Working Hour: 8:30am - 17:00pm with 1 hour lunch.
