This is a full-time, on-site Science Teacher role based in Whittlesey. The Science Teacher will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the science curriculum, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of learners with SEMH and EBSA.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Preparing lesson plans and resources
- Teaching small groups or one-to-one
- Assessing progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Implementing individual learning plans
- Supporting emotional regulation in the classroom
- Working closely with the wider team, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent support
- Contributing to curriculum development
- Participating in staff meetings and training
- Helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Strong subject knowledge and practical experience in Science Education, with the ability to teach across disciplines (e.g., Physics, Biology, Chemistry) at secondary level
- Confidence in teaching related subject areas such as Mathematics to support scientific understanding and cross-curricular learning
- Experience or training in working with pupils with SEMH, EBSA, or similar additional needs, including behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and relationship-building skills, with a calm, patient, and inclusive approach
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage families and carers, and contribute to personalised education and support plans
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development; enhanced background checks will be required
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher status (Qualified Teacher) and experience of effective Lesson Planning tailored to diverse learning needs
- Experience in alternative provision or specialist settings, and familiarity with therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches in education
