We are seeking a passionate and creative Teacher of English to join our dedicated team at Newhaven School, a specialist provision for students with additional needs. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment and wants to make a real difference in the lives of students. This post is situated at the Gardens site, which comprises the Pupil Referral Unit, the Assessment Centre and NEST. In addition, we have the King’s Park site, which is for students with a diagnosis of autism, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and an enduring mental health condition.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • This role would suit an experienced, creative teacher who has a passion for teaching English and enjoys introducing students to a wide range of literature.
  • Ideally has experience working with students with SEN or has a trauma-informed teaching background or is interested in developing skills and experience in these areas.
  • Is able to build positive, lasting relationships with students, motivating them to engage with their studies and achieve their best.
  • Is highly organised and very adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Can work collaboratively within a small team, sharing ideas and contributing to the department’s success.
