We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking individual to further strengthen and expand our Health and Social Care provision, creating clear and effective progression pathways into employment, higher education and apprenticeships. This role will play a central part in responding to both regional and national priorities within the health and care sector, including workforce development, community wellbeing and integrated care services.

The Course Leader will lead and develop Health & Social Care programmes at Entry level, Levels 1, 2 and 3, ensuring curriculum relevance across adult social care, community health, safeguarding, mental health awareness, and person-centred practice. Health and Social Care remains a strategic growth area for the service. About You

You are a qualified teacher (DTLLS / PGCE / Cert Ed / Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training or equivalent) with substantial Health and Social Care experience, educated to degree level or above, and confident working with adult learners. You will have a strong vocational background in the sector, with excellent knowledge of current priorities, workforce challenges and professional standards. You are committed to learner success and share our dedication to placing students at the centre of all we do. You are an inspiring practitioner and an effective leader, able to motivate and develop both learners and colleagues.

Your professional credibility and subject expertise will ensure a high quality learning experience and support strong learner achievement, progression and employability outcomes. You will bring experience in leading teams, embedding digital learning technologies, promoting innovative teaching practice and championing inclusion, safeguarding and equality of opportunity. You will also have a strong understanding of the Education Inspection Framework, internal quality assurance processes, compliance requirements and awarding body standards for accredited programmes. You will undertake Work Placement Assessments in addition to teaching, assignment marking and feedback.

About Us

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
