Overview

The role of a Lecturer in Childcare at Newham College is to provide outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and support on a range of courses within your subject specialism, ranging from Levels 3.

The postholder will be supporting learners\’ personal and professional development by creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Lecturers will contribute to curriculum design, quality improvement, and the wider college community, ensuring that teaching meets the standards set by awarding bodies and aligns with Newham College, local community and sector priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and assessing learners across a range of Childcare courses.
  • Supporting student retention, achievement, and progression.
  • Acting as a personal tutor/course coordinator for designated groups.
  • Developing high-quality teaching materials and schemes of work.
  • Engaging with employers and external bodies to support placements and career opportunities.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of curriculum and quality assurance processes.
  • Contributing to marketing, curriculum development, and course coordination activities.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • A degree or professional qualification in a Childcare-related field
  • Teaching qualification (or working towards one)
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in the field of Childcare
  • Experience teaching or training in the subject area
