Newham College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Health and Safety to lead the strategic and operational management of health, safety, and compliance across all our campuses. This is a high-impact role at the heart of the College\’s Estates and Facilities team, with responsibility for fostering a culture of safety for students, staff, and visitors alike.
About The Role
As Head of Health and Safety, you will:
- Develop and lead the college-wide health and safety strategy
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across multiple sites
- Lead a dedicated H&S team and provide expert guidance to the senior leadership
- Oversee risk management, incident reporting, emergency planning, and audits
- Deliver training programs and champion a positive, proactive safety culture
This role is critical in supporting a safe, inclusive, and sustainable learning environment across our diverse and vibrant community.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification and is Grad IOSH or CMIOSH
- Has extensive experience in a senior H&S role, ideally in education or a multi-site organisation
- Brings in-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practices
- Is a confident communicator, able to influence at all levels and present to governance boards
- Is proactive, strategic, and passionate about continuous improvement in safety standards
- A degree in a relevant subject, experience in the FE sector, and a formal teaching/training qualification are desirable.
