The Role.
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Specialist Exams Access Arrangement Assessor to play a key role in supporting our students.
The Specialist Exams Access Arrangements Assessor will lead the College's specialist assessment function for Exam Access Arrangements across all campuses, personally undertaking JCQ-compliant assessments, ensuring the quality and audit readiness of supporting evidence, and line managing the Exam Access Arrangements Officer.
To identify, assess, and recommend appropriate examination access arrangements for students with disabilities, learning difficulties, medical conditions, or special educational needs in accordance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations. The postholder will work collaboratively with curriculum, support, examinations, and safeguarding teams to ensure students are able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills fairly and equitably.
Key responsibilities.
- Administering, scoring and interpreting appropriate standardised assessments for students with exam access needs and completing all aspects of JCQ Forms (currently 8's, 9's and 8RF)
- Work systematically to strict external JCQ deadlines for exam arrangements, including managing own workload and working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure all learners exam needs are met.
- Conduct specialist assessments for examination access arrangements in line with current JCQ regulations
- Gather and analyse evidence from educational records, diagnostic reports, teaching staff, support staff, and external professionals.
- Assess students for arrangements such as:
Extra time
Reader
Scribe
Computer reader
Word processor
Rest breaks
Prompter
Alternative rooming arrangements - Line management responsibility of the EAA officer to ensure workflows are managed and changing exam needs are recorded correctly in college systems.
- Produce clear and accurate assessment reports and recommendations.
- Maintain detailed records of assessments, outcomes, and supporting evidence.
- Ensure appropriate evidence of needs is stored on college systems in preparation for internal and external audits.
- Work across all college sites ensuring arrangements are in place at all Newham college sites.
- Keeping procedures aligned with annual JCQ regulatory change
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
- Appropriate Level 7 Exam Access Arrangement Assessment certificate
- Experience of assessing and ensuring the implementation of
exam arrangements in a college or Secondary school. - Experience of delivering to externally set, tight deadlines
- Extensive experience working in Special Educational Needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate and support learners from diverse backgrounds.
