The Role
The Student Participation Officer will work with a small team to identify students with attendance and punctuality issues and implement agreed interventions that improve student attendance, punctuality and behaviour issues, including throughout the day once they have arrived. You will be responsible for ensuring systems are updated, communication is recorded and reports are published in relation to attendance and behaviour. You will oversee the Student Lounge to ensure students are behaving appropriately and attending lessons in line with their timetable and report any issues or concerns. You will work closely with the wider Student Experience teams to deliver a range of enrichment activities, in the Student Lounge, that engages students in an extra and co-curricular programme which supports and enhances the student experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Attendance and Punctuality Policy by contacting students, parents and carers and arrange meetings as appropriate.
- Provide support to students whose attendance falls below college expectations, implementing strategies to improve attendance.
- Ensure all information regarding attendance and punctuality is recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
- Provide reports to support external meetings, ensuring attendance and behaviour concerns are recorded accurately.
- Process the absence reporting emails and calls and record information in Etrackr.
- Collect and update contact information and support parents’ evenings to collect and validate information provided at enrolment.
- Track and report attendance of vulnerable groups and liaise with colleagues in safeguarding and welfare teams.
- Staff the late desks and ensure data is recorded in the appropriate systems.
- Work as an active and enthusiastic member of the student experience team to increase club membership and participation of students which will help improve student attendance and retention.
- Ensure students using the Student Lounge are attending lessons and report any concerns regarding behaviour and attitude.
- Contribute to a review and evaluation of the areas Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
