About Us: Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role: Please note that we have one full-time and two part-time positions available for 36, 28.8, and 21.6 hours per week. The salary will be pro rata according to the hours. We are currently recruiting a qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic teacher to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team on a Hourly Paid basis. Our department delivers a range of courses that support learners with SEND to develop skills including independent living skills, communication, personal development, employability, and enterprise. A commitment to working with young people/adults with additional support needs underpins all aspects of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality, creative, and inclusive teaching tailored to SEND learners.
• Develop and implement schemes of learning, lesson plans, and resources.
• Act as a course tutor, tracking and supporting student progress.
• Contribute to course development, reviews, and quality improvement.
• Support learners with progression pathways and employability skills.
• Promote positive behaviour and safeguarding at all times.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification.
• Minimum Level 2 in English & Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or above).
• Recent experience teaching learners with SEND, including those with complex needs.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
