Newham College London, now merged with New VIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham.

The Role
The Lecturer in Childcare will provide outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and support on a range of courses within the subject specialism, from Level 3 upwards.
In this fixed‑term contract until December 2027, you will support learners’ personal and professional development by creating an inclusive, engaging and supportive learning environment.
You will help shape curriculum, contribute to quality improvement, and support the college community to meet standards set by awarding bodies and national priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and assess learners across a range of Childcare courses.
- Support student retention, achievement and progression.
- Act as a personal tutor / course coordinator for designated groups.
- Develop high‑quality teaching materials and schemes of work.
- Engage with employers and external bodies to support placements and career opportunities.
- Participate in continuous improvement of curriculum and quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to marketing, curriculum development and course coordination activities.
- Comply with CPD requirements (minimum 30 hours annually).

- A degree or professional qualification in a childcare‑related field.
- A teaching qualification (or working towards one).
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in childcare.
- Experience teaching or training in the subject area.
