Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of A Level Law to join our Academic Programmes team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, enabling students to achieve excellent outcomes and develop a strong understanding of legal principles. The role includes planning and delivering engaging lessons, monitoring student progress, providing effective feedback, and implementing interventions to support achievement and progression.
Key responsibilities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality A Level Law lessons that engage, motivate, and challenge students.
- Teach across all aspects of the A Level Law specification, ensuring students develop strong legal knowledge and analytical skills.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Set high expectations for student attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and academic performance.
- Implement effective intervention strategies to improve retention, achievement, and examination outcomes.
- Prepare students for external examinations through effective teaching, assessment, revision planning, and exam technique development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and assessment outcomes.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and continuous improvement of the Law provision.
- Participate in parents', carers evenings, open events, enrolment activities, and progression interviews.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to departmental and college quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity, and college policies.
- Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance subject knowledge and teaching practice.
- Contribute to the promotion of a positive, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment that enables students to achieve their full potential.
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Relevant qualifications and subject expertise in Law, together with a recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one.
