As an ESOLY (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Lecturer, you will be at the forefront of facilitating the linguistic development and integration of diverse communities. Your role extends beyond teaching language skills; you will be fostering cross-cultural understanding, communication proficiency, and empowerment among your students. Through engaging lessons and immersive experiences, you will provide essential language support and cultural insights, enabling students to navigate and thrive in English-speaking environments. By creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, you will empower students to express themselves confidently, engage with their communities, and pursue their academic and professional goals. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging and effective ESOL teaching in line with the College Standards for Teaching and Learning.
  2. Develop innovative teaching materials and implement student-centred learning strategies.
  3. Plan and deliver work-based learning, including apprenticeships and placements.
  4. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and progression.
  5. Contribute to curriculum development and ensure alignment with industry needs.
  6. Support marketing initiatives, including student recruitment and employer engagement.
  7. Participate in quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of service delivery.
  8. Undertake administrative responsibilities, including record-keeping and reporting.
  9. Act as a personal tutor, providing guidance and support to students throughout their learning journey.
  10. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the College’s reputation and service delivery.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate in Speaker of other Languages (CELTA)
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or QTLS).
  • Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and ICT.
  • Experience teaching adult learners, including accredited and non-accredited ESOL courses.
  • Strong understanding of the Further and Higher Education sectors.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
