The Company
NewGen is a social-first creative and creator agency that stands at the forefront of culture, creators and community. On a mission to challenge outdated advertising methodologies, it exists to revolutionise social connections, making advertising more relevant, engaging, fun, and effective. With its genesis as a gaming influencer agency, it has honed its community expertise, connecting with modern consumers in a way that aligns with how they interact, share, and make decisions in the digital age.
About the Role
We are looking for a Discord-native Social Media Manager to lead the setup, growth, and day-to-day management of Discord servers for a roster of clients—particularly in gaming and entertainment. You will be responsible for building vibrant, engaged communities that go beyond announcements and actually feel alive. This role blends community building with social strategy, requiring someone who knows how to speak fluent Discord (bots, channels, roles, memes and all) and grow servers with purpose and personality.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Build & Setup: Create and configure Discord servers from scratch, including channel structure, permissions, roles, bots, and moderation tools. Design onboarding flows and user journeys to ensure smooth entry and retention.
- Community Management: Lead the day-to-day moderation and engagement within client servers. Develop and maintain community guidelines, FAQ docs, and mod frameworks. Act as a visible and trusted voice in the community—either directly or via mod teams.
- Growth Strategy & Execution: Plan and implement growth tactics to increase server members and engagement (e.g. partnerships, giveaways, cross-platform promotion). Track community metrics and optimise strategies accordingly. Collaborate with marketing and content teams to drive traffic from social platforms into Discord.
- Campaign Activation: Coordinate server-based activations like AMAs, live chats, early access drops, and community challenges. Work closely with client teams (especially publishers/devs) to align server content with product and campaign timelines.
- Client Communication & Reporting: Provide regular updates and performance reports to clients. Participate in strategic planning sessions and pitch ideas for Discord growth and engagement.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing and growing active Discord servers, ideally for gaming, fandom, or tech communities.
- Deep understanding of Discord culture, features, bots, and best practices.
- Excellent written communication and community moderation skills.
- Able to juggle multiple servers and client priorities at once.
- Strong instincts for digital community psychology and platform trends.
- Comfortable using analytics to guide decision-making.
- Bonus: familiarity with gaming communities, esports, or Web3 spaces.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with games publishers or entertainment brands.
- Ability to produce or brief in Discord-native assets (e.g. emojis, banners, gifs).
- Previous experience training or managing moderators.
Benefits
- 36 days holiday per year, including a 10-day block "reset", Christmas closure and birthday day off.
- Ben Allowance - Subsidised bespoke benefits package giving you access to benefits you want (Childcare, enhanced pension, healthcare, gym, Netflix, Deliveroo, you name it, it's on there).
- Access to private medical healthcare and mental healthcare through Aviva Health Insurance; Enhanced Maternity & Paternity policy and enhanced policies for same-sex and non-binary couples.
- Enhanced compassionate leave so you can genuinely take the time you need.
- Flexible working hours give you an earlier start for an earlier finish or a later start for a later finish. We want you to work in a way that works best for you and your life.
- Company away days!
- Community days - we give you time off to go support a cause you believe in!
- There are plenty of clubs/societies, and if we don't have something that suits you, you can always suggest it.
- Holiday office closure & additional time off for religious holidays.
