We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated GP to join us for 6-8 sessions from April 26 (flexible start date for the right candidate) at Newent Doctors Practice, Gloucestershire. Newly qualified GPs are welcome, with mentoring and support provided.
Main duties of the job
As a GP partner you will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of care for all our patients.

We are proud to maintain the values of the traditional family doctor, with each of our 10 GP partners holding their own patient list to support continuity and consistency of care.

Each partner takes on a key leadership role within the practice, contributing to both clinical excellence and strategic development.
The practice is well established in the beautiful semirural market town of Newent, conveniently positioned close to Forest of Dean, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Ledbury and Hereford. The area provides fantastic opportunities for outdoor and leisure activities, with the Forest of Dean, the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills within easy reach, making it a wonderful place to live and work.

Job responsibilities
You will provide a full range of NHS services to patients registered at the practice including clinical exam, diagnosis and making referrals when appropriate. You will carry out face to face and telephone consultations, home visits, checking and signing prescriptions, dealing with queries, following up results, paperwork and correspondence.
Alongside this you will work as part of the partnership team, leading and shaping the future of the practice and after a settling in period, there will be an expectation that you will take on a key role for the practice.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience working in practice as a GP (sessional/ partner)
- Familiarity with multi-disciplinary mixed skill mixed team environment
- Experience working within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF)
- Experience supporting service change
Qualifications
- You must be a medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
- Must not be under suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
- Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
- Accredited member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP)
