Are you a compassionate and dedicated Substance Misuse Nurse looking to make a real difference in your community? Join Newcross Healthcare and become part of a team that puts people at the heart of everything we do.
We’re hiring experienced Substance Misuse Nurses to join us in a 3-6 month temporary position, working 37.5 hours per week.
Shift patterns: 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm or 7am-9pm. Please note, previous prison experience and valid Prison Clearance are essential for this role. We are not able to obtain clearance for staff.
What you’ll do:
- Provide high-quality person-centred nursing care to individuals experiencing substance misuse.
- Complete clinical and risk assessments and develop individual care plans.
- Deliver harm reduction, recovery and health & wellbeing interventions.
- Support clinics, health education, BBV testing, vaccinations and detox programmes.
- Safely administer and supervise medication, including control drugs.
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, dignity and respect.
- Maintain strong safeguarding and security awareness within the prison environment.
What we’re looking for:
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- At least 6 months of post-qualification experience in a UK-based care setting.
- Experience in substance misuse is essential.
- Previous experience in a prison / secure healthcare setting is essential.
- Valid Prison Clearance.
- Confidence in carrying out clinical and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of medication management and the safe handling of controlled drugs.
- Strong understanding of substance misuse, drug and alcohol treatment, harm reduction and recovery interventions.
- Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
