Community Paediatric Care Assistant – Plymouth
Pay: From £13.97 to £16.69 per hour
Shift Pattern: Shifts are 2-1; Tuesdays 17:00-21:00, school holidays 10:00-14:00
We are looking for an exceptional Community Paediatric Care Assistant to join the Newcross Healthcare team in the Plymouth area. Join us in a supportive and rewarding environment where your work helps children and young people live happier, healthier lives.
Your Role
Supporting Independence, Enriching Lives
As a Community Paediatric Care Assistant, you will provide life-enhancing, person-centred care to children and young people in Paignton. Your compassion and dedication will help young people live safely, with dignity and independence in their own homes.
About our client
This is a vibrant 17-year-old who lives with Type 1 diabetes and the effects of a spinal cord stroke, which impact motor function. They require support with clinical tasks including medication, insulin administration, and use of a Cough Assist machine, especially when unwell.
They are full of energy and enjoy music, socialising online, playing board games, and spending time outdoors. A vegan diet is followed, and they value family, independence, and humour. Carers should be female, with training in airway management, diabetes, and medication (including insulin via pen and Cough Assist). Shadowing with existing carers will be provided.
What we\’re looking for
- At least 6 months of paid professional care experience (or personal care experience in the UK)
- Confidence supporting individuals with limited mobility
- A valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- The right to work in the UK
- Experience with complex care (preferred but not essential, full training provided)
- Registration: Applicants in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland will require the relevant registration (e.g., SSSC, SCW, NISSC). Not applicable in England.
- Ability to understand both verbal and written English to follow care plans and communicate effectively
- Qualities: Empathy, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork and the ability to deliver exceptional care
