Who are we?

At Newcross Healthcare, we're transforming healthcare through innovation, technology, and education - anchored by our values of Integrity, Respect, Empathy, and Teamwork. As one of the UK's leading providers of healthcare staffing and professional development, we empower over 80,000 health and social care professionals with smarter workforce tools, free digital learning, and accredited training. By combining professional excellence and intelligent technology with genuine human compassion, we're shaping a more connected, caring future for healthcare. Our values guide everything we do, ensuring exceptional care for patients and unwavering support for our teams.

Who are you?

We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to join the Product & Technology team at Newcross Healthcare, helping shape digital products used by healthcare professionals, care providers, and our internal teams. This is a hands-on opportunity to solve complex problems and turn them into simple, intuitive, accessible experiences that genuinely make a difference. You'll be involved across the full product lifecycle - from discovery, research, and prototyping through to delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement. Experience isn't essential. We're more interested in how you think, solve problems, and work with others. Experience in SaaS, marketplaces, workforce technology, logistics, fintech, travel, booking platforms, or other complex operational products could translate well. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, users, and senior stakeholders, helping shape both individual features and the wider direction and quality of our products.

What will you do?

  • Work with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to understand problems, explore opportunities, and shape product direction.
  • Translate complex workflows, systems, and requirements into clear, simple, and intuitive experiences.
  • Conduct and contribute to user research, usability testing, and discovery activities.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative insight, behavioural data, and product metrics to inform design decisions.
  • Create user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity product designs.
  • Work closely with Engineers throughout delivery to ensure the intended experience is brought to life.
  • Define appropriate measures of success and use feedback and product performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system, helping create scalable, consistent, and accessible experiences.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design throughout the product development process.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale, including the evidence, assumptions, and trade-offs behind decisions.
  • Collaborate with other designers through critiques, workshops, and knowledge sharing.
  • Help us continuously improve how design works within cross-functional product teams.
  • Explore appropriate uses of AI and emerging design tools to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and delivery while maintaining a high standard of design quality.

What we'll be looking for (skills, experience + qualifications):

  • Experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or similar, ideally working on digital products rather than primarily marketing or brand work.
  • Demonstrating end-to-end product design, including the thinking and processes involved.
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams alongside Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Strong UX and interaction design skills, with the ability to simplify complicated journeys, systems, and workflows.
  • Experience designing responsive web products and/or native mobile applications.
  • Confidence working with ambiguity and making informed decisions when perfect information isn’t available.
  • Experience using user research and usability testing to influence product decisions.
  • An understanding of product metrics and how design outcomes can be measured after launch.
  • Strong prototyping skills and experience using tools such as Figma.
  • Experience working with or contributing to design systems and reusable component libraries.
  • A good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles, including WCAG.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to explain and justify design decisions.
  • The ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints rather than considering design in isolation.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other designers and helping raise the quality of design across a team.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and communicating the evidence, rationale, and trade-offs.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion:

We put equality, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We encourage individual expression in our workplace and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they have the opportunity to contribute. If you have a disability and would prefer to apply in a different format or would like us to make reasonable adjustments to enable you to apply or attend an interview, please contact us and we will talk.

Our values shape how we care for patients and support our teams – grounded in integrity, empathy, respect, and a commitment to teamwork.

  • Integrity: We do what's right, even when no one is watching.
  • Respect: Every voice matters, and every person counts.
  • Empathy: We understand and share the feelings of others.
