We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring efficient planning and coordination of all transport movements from NewCold Wakefield and customer factory clearances across multiple sites. You will play a key role in maintaining high levels of customer service and operational efficiency while optimising resources and controlling costs.
Location: Wakefield Site.
Salary: Up to £45,000.00 (DOE).
Shift Pattern: Tuesday to Saturday 42.5 hours per week.
Contract: Full-time, permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan driver schedules and vehicle usage to meet delivery profiles within budget.
- Ensure compliance with drivers' hours regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with controllers and driver teams for smooth daily operations.
- Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve service and efficiency.
- Communicate special delivery instructions clearly to drivers and the wider team.
- Respond promptly to changes in volume, schedules, or disruptions to minimise impact.
- Liaise with internal teams and external delivery points to manage bookings and resolve issues.
- Minimise empty running and manage backhaul subcontractors effectively.
- Engage with external suppliers and agencies to ensure resource availability.
- Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities in transport planning.
Requirements:
- GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in transport planning or logistics.
- Knowledge of drivers' hours regulations and transport compliance.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport planning software.
- Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS).
