Your role as a Transport Manager:
We are seeking a proactive Transport Manager to lead our night shift operation in Wakefield. This is a key role within our transport division, responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and compliant service during core overnight hours. The successful candidate will play a central part in maintaining a seamless 24 hour operation while driving continuous improvement across people, process and performance.
- Location: Stanley, Wakefield, WF3 4FE.
- Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday, 21:00 to 06:00.
- Salary: Up to £40,000, negotiable depending on experience.
This is an opportunity for an experienced transport professional who is ready to influence performance, support operational excellence and contribute to a high performing transport function within a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, support and oversee the night transport planning and operations team, ensuring a consistent and organised workflow.
- Maintain compliance with transport legislation, company policies and CPC requirements.
- Shape and embed effective processes that support operational consistency and service excellence.
- Manage performance indicators, working within agreed budgets while identifying efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Review transport plans daily and adjust where required to optimise efficiency and service outcomes.
- Respond to operational changes, customer requirements and unexpected challenges promptly and confidently.
- Collaborate with day shift management, warehouse teams and customer service to support alignment across the full operation.
- Coach and develop the team, encouraging skill progression and high standards of performance.
- Hold CPC responsibility for the business unit, ensuring full compliance and governance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience within transport operations, ideally within a fast paced 3PL or FMCG environment.
- Strong leadership capability with the confidence to make clear and informed decisions.
- Skilled in managing budgets, KPIs and operational performance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build constructive relationships.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving ability.
- A forward thinking approach, with an interest in improving processes and enhancing service delivery.
