Your role as a Driver Trainer

About the Role

NewCold Transport Limited is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to join our team in Corby. This is a central role in maintaining and improving operational safety and legal compliance within our driver workforce. You will assess, train and support both newly recruited and long standing drivers, ensuring full adherence to regulatory and organisational driving standards.

Through structured assessments, tailored training delivery and post incident interventions, you will uphold our commitment to road safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence, directly supporting risk mitigation and continuous driver development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver training for new starters throughout the recruitment and induction process.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of driver training to a high standard, in full compliance with all relevant legal requirements.
  • Support the development and updating of training materials to maintain and enhance driver competencies.
  • Manage driver infringements by providing appropriate debriefing and retraining, or recommending further compliance action where necessary.
  • Offer guidance and support to the driver pool, encouraging continuous development and adherence to best practice.
  • Assist with post accident or incident "golden hour" activities, including retraining and assessments as required.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the Transport team to manage and resolve time sensitive incidents and documentation.
  • Conduct daily driver and vehicle compliance checks (Gate Checks), contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Use the Tachomaster system to monitor driver compliance, including licence validation, eyesight checks and driving assessments.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Transport, Logistics or a related discipline.
  • Driver CPC Instructor certification (or relevant driver training/assessor qualification).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in driver training or driver assessment.
  • Experience working within transport compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of driver compliance legislation and best practice.
  • Proficiency in driver management systems such as Tachomaster.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills to interpret driver performance and compliance data.
