Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off day shift (06:00 - 18:00)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Overview
We are seeking a proactive and confident Transport Team Leader to support the continued growth of our transport division. This position plays a central role in maintaining a compliant, efficient and time critical overnight transport operation within NewCold Transport Limited. The purpose of the role is to coordinate departures, manage live operational challenges, and ensure that service quality remains consistently high across all activities.
Key Responsibilities
-Monitor the Transport Management System to ensure timely vehicle departures and escalate any deviations that may impact service
-Oversee factory collections, ensuring punctuality, accuracy and appropriate customer communication
-Liaise with the fleet department to address vehicle defects and support follow up on repairs or substitutions
-Maintain clear visibility of inbound estimated arrival times and trailer availability to support effective loading and dispatch
-Produce structured, accurate and actionable handover reports for the incoming shift, ensuring operational continuity
-Escalate significant operational or safety risks to Transport Supervisors or senior management in line with internal procedures
-Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, including the EU Drivers Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive
-Support the management of people matters as directed, including involvement in disciplinary or investigatory meetings, ensuring compliance with UK employment law principles including ACAS Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures and company policy
Requirements
-Minimum of 3 years experience within transport operations
-Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity
-Strong working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours Regulations
-Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems
